MCA Roundtable on Talent
Annually, Michigan Colleges Alliance (MCA) brings together member college presidents with business and talent acquisition leaders from major Michigan-based employers to explore young talent development and workplace readiness issues. The MCA Roundtable on Talent was launched in June, 2013 and includes an evening dinner reception with a keynote speaker followed the next day by an in-depth discussion among participants. It is held at the beautiful and iconic Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. The goal is to better understand employer expectations and improve communications between the developers and employers of young talent in our state.
2017 Roundtable on Talent
This year will mark the fifth anniversary of this “one-of-a-kind” special event where higher education leaders and talent executives come together to advance dialogue and cooperation on developing talent for our state’s future workforce. MCA's annual Roundtable on Talent will be held on June 25 - 27, 2017 at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
The 2017 theme is “Building Cultures of Innovation” and the program will feature well-known keynote speakers, and an interactive learning session on “Innovation Games” by Dr. Andrea Simon, an author and corporate anthropologist. She will help to equip attendees with the theory, tools and methods to create better solutions and become more adaptable and innovative in your own workplace.
We also are excited to launch a new initiative – the Center for Advancing Student Outcomes. A unique joint venture between MCA members and employers, the Center will be an incubator for testing new models in student career development. You will hear about several projects including a pilot on 21st Century Skills Badging with Education Design Lab (featured on PBS NewsHour), and others.
The event begins with a group dinner and program for MCA campus leaders on Sunday evening at 5:45 PM. Corporate partners will join on Monday for a reception on the front porch of the Grand Hotel and dinner program. The Roundtable begins Tuesday morning, June 27, and will conclude at approximately 3:00 PM.
